At the edge of the Amboli forests lies Kumbhawade — a foothill village where the road slowly gives way to forest trails, perennial rivers, firewood kitchens, and the slower rhythms of monsoon life.
Shaped by rain and the surrounding wilderness, the village remains deeply connected to the land around it. Food follows the season. Wild plants and medicinal herbs still carry everyday relevance. Forest paths lead to hidden waterfalls, and evenings gather people around slow meals, stories, and woodsmoke.
Wild Table is a four-day monsoon journey into this landscape. Led by forest food researcher and chef Harshita Kakwani alongside local farmers, home chefs, ethnobotany expert, herpers, and KTC field guides — this is an exploration of food, forest, culture, and the slower intelligence of village life.
You will walk hidden waterfall trails and perennial rivers. Forage through forests with people who know what they’re looking for. Cook beside woodfire kitchens with home chefs who learned from their mothers. Spend evenings around slow meals and monsoon conversations that go nowhere in particular.
The journey begins in the foothills and ends by the sea, closing in the laid-back coastal town of Vengurla, where the forest settles into salt air and open water.

Posted on Google Chef Sherry MMay 10, 2026. What an experience and the surreal trials by Konkan travel club . You not only give us tours but unforgettable experiences. I’m truly grateful to find you . Highly highly recommendedPosted on Google Soujanya ReddyApril 16, 2026. I had an amazing experience with Konkan Travel Club! This was my first time choosing a non-disabled travel agency to organize my Konkan trip, as I wanted to experience authentic slow travel—and they truly exceeded my expectations. They thoughtfully curated a special itinerary not just for me as a wheelchair user, but also for my entire family. Every aspect of the trip was handled with great care, ensuring accessibility and comfort at each destination. While my family enjoyed nature trails, I had the opportunity to visit heritage sites, explore forts, and even experience the beach with assistance ♿️ I also visited religious places where spirituality beautifully coexists with modern life. One of the highlights was a meal at a local family’s home, giving us a wonderful insight into the region’s culture and traditions. The fruit trails were truly a highlight of the trip. A special moment for us was watching my child enjoy releasing baby turtles into the sea—an unforgettable experience. A heartfelt thank you to Prathik and the entire team for making it possible for me to create such meaningful memories with my family. I highly recommend Konkan Travel Club to anyone looking for a thoughtful and enriching Konkan travel experience.Posted on Google inquilab alwaysApril 6, 2026.
