How to Make Bioenzyme: A Natural Cleaning Solution

Bioenzyme is an eco-friendly, multipurpose cleaner made from fruit scraps, jaggery (or brown sugar), and water. It’s easy to make and great for sustainable households. Here’s how to create your own:

Ingredients:

  • 1 part jaggery or brown sugar
  • 3 part fruit scraps (citrus peels work best)
  • 10 parts water

Steps:

  1. Chop fruit scraps into small pieces.
  2. In a large airtight  plastic bottle/container, mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  3. Seal the container, leaving some space for fermentation gases.
  4. Label with the start date and ingredients.
  5. Store in a cool, dark place for 3 months.
  6. Release accumulated gases every 2-3 days in first few weeks.
  7. After 3 months, strain the liquid. Your bioenzyme is ready!

Using the bioenzyme culture for the next batch will reduce prep time to 1 month!

Uses:

  • All-purpose cleaner (dilute 1:10 with water)
