Field Expert Examiner’s Guide

Field Assessment:

  • The field assessment will evaluate the practical application of knowledge and skills in guiding ecotourism trails and experiences.
  • The field assessment will take place in Vengurla town, and will require field experts to lead groups of guests/Panel on a 20 min guided trail.
  • The field assessment will contribute 60% towards the overall grade calculation

Field Assessment Evaluation Criteria: The field assessment will be evaluated based on the following criteria by a panel of assessors:

Assessment CriteriaDescription
Local/Trail Knowledge
  • Demonstrates understanding of the local area and the trail subject.
  • Knowledge on environment, history, flora, fauna, and culture & natural heritage of Konkan.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Works effectively as part of a group, coordinating tasks and responsibilities.
  • Supports and encourages fellow team members, fostering a positive team dynamic.
Engagement & Critical Thinking
  • Actively engages the participants.
  • Ability to prompt travelers to think critically, consider different perspectives, and engage in thoughtful reflection.
Communication and Storytelling
  • Communicates effectively with travelers.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Uses storytelling techniques to bring to life the history, ecology & significance of place, making the information more relatable & memorable.
Safety
  • Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the well-being of guests.
  • Demonstrates awareness of potential risks and takes appropriate safety measures.

Grade Calculation:

  • The grading scale will range from 1 to 10. [40% Classroom + 60% Field Test]
  • Certificates will be categorized based on the following score ranges:
    • Beginner/Rookie: Score 2-4
    • Intermediate/Seasoned: Score 5-7
    • Advanced/Master: Score 8-10

Note:

  • Time limit for trail will be strictly 20 minutes.
  • Questions may be involved during the trail from assessors.
  • Interaction with local community members can be included in the trail.
  • No points will be cut if participants finish their trail in 15 minutes.
